EDIT:: Changed his outfit AGAIN, evolved Motlatoa and added Tecoli to the team!Duality OCT- CozamalotlHistory
: Cozamalotl, or "Coza" as he's been introducing himself to the locals with vocab issues, hails from a region far from Unova. He is reluctant to share the name or exact location of his home, but will waste no time in regaling its grandeur to anyone who will listen. Where he comes from, he says, everything is lined in the finest gold. Grand temples that soar past the treetops litter than landscape. Giant monoliths, carved in the image of various deities, stand watch over the people. So, people usually ask, why did he leave such a marvelous place?
Simply put, Coza got bored.
He was an acolyte, spending his days worshipping a deity the locals called Cozamalotl- a rainbow phoenix, of sorts. As one might guess, Coza was named after the deity, and practically had his acolyte career set at birth. He enjoyed the attention his name got, but one thing he didn't enjoy was the uncertainty of his religion. He spent his days interpreting the will of something that no one had seen in centuries, perhaps millennia. Maybe the phoenix didn't even exist. He didn't enjoy the prospect of hailing a god that might not even be there, one that wouldn't even reveal himself to him despite his complete devotion. And so, armed with only his local Ponyta and the clothes on his back, he left on the eve of his ascension to High Priesthood to see what else there was in the world.
Five years of constant travel has seen arrive at the Unova region with two new additions to his team. And it's about time, he thinks, that he settles down, at least for a little while. And of all places to settle down, he had to pick a place in the midst of a civil war. Typical.Personality
: Coza is, simply put, a little bit stupid. It's ambiguous as to whether he is actually dense or just acts foolish- he could be a lot more intelligent than he lets on. He is overly inquisitive, curious to a fault and has a penchant for unintentionally bugging people until they are annoyed with him. Overly friendly and generous, he a tendency to be a little bit self-sacrificing.
He is in a relationship with the Ranger bard Casper
.The Story So Far
The Entrance Exam: After traveling around various regions for a total of five years, Coza looks to settle down somewhere, at least for a while. He hears of an academy that offers food, education and boarding in exchange for nothing less than aptitude, excellent battling skills, and the student's very best at all times. Coza barely passes the writing exam, and only has a slightly easier time with the practical exam due to his Ponyta's fortitude. Now that he has something to take his mind off the constant worry that his home's religion left him with, Coza is content... for the moment.
Round 1: In the week after the entrance exam, Coza has been studying as hard as he can with little success. He is barely holding onto his grades. Outside of guild work, he has established a friendship- and then a romantic relationship- with the Ranger bard Casper. Milena D'Orn organises another practical exam for her students to prepare them for the war that looks very likely to happen. Coza is pitted against fellow Mage Dacivilier in a three on three battle, with one stipulation; the Pokemon are randomly swapped. Coza, like many of the other students, is deeply uncomfortable with having to order attacks on the Pokemon he considers his siblings, friends and children. The final wound to his heart is having to order a heavy attack from Patlani onto the comparatively helpless Cuica. While she is unharmed, the experience leaves Coza in doubt as to whether he can continue with this. Harsh words from his Headmistress do him no favours. He visits Casper that night and tries his best to forget his woes.
Round 2: On a road outside of Castelia City, an Audino follows an ethereal trail with purpose. The morning after the practical exam, Coza is woken by Cuica, who harbours no ill will at all. Silently realising his Pokemon might not be as sensitive as he sees them to be, Coza's heart is somewhat eased. Coza departs for the Mage Guild reluctantly, leaving his boyfriend with a cape to keep him company until he gets back. Upon returning to Castelia, Coza realises he will not make it back anytime soon; the Academy is under attack and the Mages are fleeing north. He is cornered by Rhett, a Warrior, and is saved by Cuica rushing to his defence. Motlatoa follows shortly after, and they make their escape on Patlani. Rhett, desperate to stop the Mage from escaping, aims his spear in a reflex action. The spear grazes Coza's side, leaving him with a deep and near fatal wound. He succumbs to it later on down the road, in front of the Audino who looks horrified. She quickly uses Heal Pulse and revives Coza, leaving him as good as new, save for a scar. The Audino shows immense relief, and also seems to know Coza already. Deeply confused, they head for Driftveil, with Coza lamenting leaving Casper all the while.
Round 3: The realisation of what is happening, as well as the guilt of leaving Casper in what must be a horrid state of worry, quickly eats at Coza. He is not his usual chipper, naive self, and he barely smiles. He, along with other Mages and a small selection of Thieves, set out for Twist Mountain, though they are unsure why and Coza dares not ask his Headmistress. The team come across a Salamence and are ordered to stay clear; Astrid the Audino has other ideas. She senses the Salamence's distress, as it is heavily wounded and left to bury it's dead master, and eases the physical pain with Heal Pulse. Coza shows some sympathy and offers the dragon his loaf of bread before leaving. In the tunnels below Twist Mountain, a trap causes Coza and Drelia, a Thief, to get lost. After evading some lethal traps and picking up two new weapons along the way (a bow and a dagger), they find the group again. At the summit, the group find an ancient, abandoned city, a large and imposing temple as it's crown. They head towards the temple and are stopped by the restless spirits of those who lived and died in the city. Facing certain death at the hands of a Haunter, Motlatoa evolves. He defeats his attacker, only to be cornered with Coza by a Cofagrigus, which in turned is incinerated by the Salamence from earlier. Though the Salamence's appearance confuses Coza, he lets it tag along as they ascend the temple to find the Dark Stone resting beneath the rain-sodden statue of a behemoth dragon at the top.PokemonPatlani, male Ponyta*
: This shining Ponyta has been with Coza since day one. His acolyte training days were often spent goofing off in the fields outside his golden city, playing with a blue-flamed foal. He's more like a guard dog than a horse- fiercely loyal and protective of his human.Cuica, female Glaceon
: As her name implies, Cuica likes to sing. Coza first found her as a kit in a region almost completely covered in snow, a region Coza was very quick to get out of. She very much has Coza wrapped around her paws, and is quite spoiled indeed. Despite this, she's quite friendly and affectionate with most people. Probably to get them to spoil her, too.Motlatoa, male Electrike
: This thing likes to run. A lot. Coza first spotted him chasing after lightning bolts during the worst storm the man had ever seen, fearlessly running into the lightning forks for fun. He is a thrillseeker, hyperactive and overly friendly to absolutely everyone.Astrid, female Audino
: After saving Coza from a wound that probably would've been fatal, Astrid has decided to accompany him on his journey to not get killed in the war and work his way back to Casper. She seems to have known him before now if her reaction to her finding him half-dead is any indication, but Coza doesn't recall meeting her. Hmmm...
